Pig Breeder Masterclass 2019

The Pig Breeder Masterclass will be held at the Hotel Nikko Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Friday 26 April 2019.

Comments from Steve McOrist, Leader of the 2019 Pig Breeder Masterclass:

“The raising of pigs in South East Asia continues to expand to meet the growing consumer demands for pork of the highest quality safety, taste and nutritious status.

“Farm expansion and consolidations combined with use of modern pig breeds have led to larger breeding herds requiring top expertise to achieve optimum performance.

“Asian Agribiz offers the first Masterclass in Pig Breeder farm management to draw together speakers and facilitators who can lead specific discussions on the key issues affecting performance, including:

  • buying and selecting the best gilts
  • nutrition and appetite of the lactating sow
  • selection of breeding pigs to balance fertility and progeny performance
  • culling practices

“The Masterclass will be a forum for the discussion of challenges and issues facing the Asian pig breeder in an interactive environment, rather than straight conference presentations. It will be a pre-requisite of the class that attendees have a working knowledge of pig breeding concepts.

“The audience will include 50 breeder farm managers, from Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and other parts of Asia. It will be conducted in English, without translation.”
