The disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has led to various challenges for animal protein producers and food producers. In a report titled ‘Covid-19’s impact on animal protein in Asia,’ the United Overseas Bank said these disruptions include supply chain challenges and shifts in consumer patterns. To address these, food producers have had to change product mix to cater to more processed foods, reduce the numbers of SKUs, and focus on low-cost mass-market products. Meanwhile, animal protein producers have had to seek alternative local raw materials for feed formulation.
