ndonesia’s Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health claimed their ASF control protocols on Nias Island, North Sumatera has shown progress. Director General, I Ketut Diarmita said in May the virus killed 16,060 pigs in the island. Thanks to technical efforts including disinfection and socialization on the risks of swill feeding the number of pig deaths dropped to 2060 in June. “The disease control will continue, with help from the army and the local public works agency to bury the dead pigs,” he said.
