by Isa Q Tan – Live pig prices in Luzon continues to trend up, reaching USD 3.50-3.60/kg in Bulacan and Tarlac, two of the country’s key pig producing areas and the most heavily impacted by ASF. An industry official told Asian Agribiz that prices could hit USD 3.80/kg in July. Another said further price increases are not inconceivable if the present situation continues. National Federation of Hog Farmers Inc President Chester Warren Tan told Asian Agribiz that to help ease the crisis, General Santos City and Davao City are currently shipping both frozen carcass and live pigs to Luzon.
