Vietnam farmers at a loss as pangasius price hits rock bottom

June 22, 2020

Pangasius farmers in Mekong are forced to sell their fish at a loss due to low demand and the fish getting oversized. According to Nguyen Minh Toai, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, exports of pangasius to main markets in the first half of the year was difficult due to the impact of Covid-19. Farmers are now reluctant to restock. Mr Toai said that in the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2021, the supply of fresh fish will decrease.
