The US-based Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) will soon begin its ASF research projects in Vietnam. The projects, funded by the USDA, with support from the US’ National Pork Producers Council, will benefit both US and Vietnamese pork producers. The initial six projects include the field evaluation of oral fluids for ASF detection, the validity of test-and-remove practices with ASF, examining rodents as vectors for ASF, time, and temperature required for inactivation of ASF virus, composting for ASF inactivation, and methods for decontaminating truck cabs. More projects are expected to follow.
