ASF resurfaces in Myanmar

June 9, 2020

Myanmar’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MALI) has announced a new outbreak of ASF in Chine State. According to the Myanmar Times almost 200 pigs have been killed. “To prevent its spread, the transport of pig and pork products in the region is being regulated and monitored closely,” said an official of MALI. At pig farms, veterinary department staff performed routine inspections, sprayed disinfectant, took samples and concentrate on biosafety. ASF first occurred in Myanmar in August last year with a total of five outbreaks with more than 2000 pigs culled.
