Vietnam aims to double lobster production by 2025

May 29, 2020

With nine provinces in the central region situated along the coast, Vietnam sees potential for lobster farming. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Mard) has set a goal for lobster production to reach 3000 tons, bringing in USD 200 million in export income by 2025. Mard is looking at establishing key lobster production and export areas that minimize the impact on the environment and reduce the risk of disease. In 2019, the country had 190,000 lobster farming cages with production of nearly 1800 tons/year, up from 2018’s 1600 tons.
