Tight supply pushes up live pig prices in the Philippines

May 22, 2020

Live prices of pigs in the Philippines are up on tight supply. In Luzon, farm price currently hovers between USD 2.40-2.80/kg this week, while in the Visayas and Mindanao, they range between USD 2.00-2.40/kg. These are up by around 20% and 10%, respectively, from three weeks ago. An industry stakeholder told Asian Agribiz that the market is starting to feel the effects of lower supplies due to ASF. While the government has assured there is enough supply of pork meat in the country, some markets have reported lower pork availability.
