Singapore Airlines flies in eggs from Seoul

May 18, 2020

An entire Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane flew laden only with eggs into Singapore on 14 April. The news was posted on SIA’s Facebook page recently.  An SIA spokesperson said the flight was part of their efforts to ensure global supply chains remain open. The Singapore Food Agency confirmed that 900,000 eggs were imported from South Korea in 2019. The country was accredited as an egg import source in 2010, but suspended in 2014 due to bird flu outbreaks. It was reinstated in 2018.
