Indonesia’s Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs will build an integrated pangasius industry in South Sumatra to increase supply for export needs. Slamet Soebjakto, Director General of Aquaculture revealed that the demand for pangasius (540 tones/month) from Saudi Arabia could not be fulfilled. “Our ministry will allocate USD 71.63 million for the development of the aquaculture industry. Of the funds, some will be for the pangasius industry development,” he said at a seminar attended by Asian Agribiz.
