February 13, 2020

The Penang state government has announced a minimum fee of USD 1 per animal when they are moved. This includes pigs, goats, sheep, and deer, starting from April. The fees apply when an animal is transported out of the district or state. State Agricultural Committee Chairman Dr Afif Bahardin said the charges would apply for all animals that are slaughtered, offered for prayers, used in cultural customs and breeding. Previously, a fee of USD 2 was charged per consignment or truck basis for cross-border animal movement.
