The Import and Export Department expects seafood exports in 2020 to earn USD 9 billion, up 5% over 2019. Pangasius and shrimp remain two key export items. Pangasius exports to the US is expected to recover, and exports to China and Asean will continue to grow positively. However, shrimp exports will continue to face difficulties due to the downturn in shrimp prices and fierce competition from other exporting countries like India and Ecuador.
