The Bangladeshi government has announced that it has achieved self-sufficiency in fish production. “Increased production has also increased local per capita consumption to 62.58g, exceeding the daily requirement of 60g,” said State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Mohamed Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru. He also noted that the government’s investments have helped Bangladesh secure third position in the world for inland fish production and fifth in the world for aquaculture production.
