Funds to develop livestock in Pakistan’s rural areas

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government in Pakistan will invest USD 7.1 million to develop livestock in the tribal regions of Erstwhile Fata. The Livestock Department has allocated USD 3.2 million to build small livestock farms. Further USD 1.3 million would be spent on setting up 10 cattle markets to cut out middleman. Similarly USD 1.9 million will be spent on increasing livestock productivity for milk, meat and eggs. The Government also noted that a further USD 644,226 would go to livestock research and development in these underdeveloped areas.
