Philippines to pilot sorghum program

The Philippines targets to begin planting sorghum in Mindanao by Q1 2020. Mindanao Development Authority Chief Emmanuel Piñol announced that Davao del Norte province has been chosen as the pilot area for the program, which aims to produce alternative feed grains for the livestock and poultry sector in Mindanao. He said seeds will arrive from the US early next year and will be planted starting February. He also noted that CP Foods Philippines has committed to purchase the sorghum produced by Mindanao farmers.
