ASF spread in the Philippines slows down

December 3, 2019

The spread of ASF in the Philippines seems to have slowed down, with fewer samples testing positive for the virus in recent weeks. Bureau of Animal Industry Director Ronnie Domingo said the number of ASF-related reports has dropped in the past month, indicating fewer outbreaks. The country has reported culling over 52,000 pigs to the OIE to prevent the spread of the disease. Dr Domingo added that with the dry season approaching, ASF cases are likely to decrease. Nonetheless, the agency will continue to intensify control measures to prevent new outbreaks. Click here to view our ASF updates.
