Beef and seafood from Canada to Vietnam will enjoy zero tax when the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) comes into effect in 2020. “Beef and seafood are popular in Asian markets, especially Japan and Vietnam. When the CPTPP comes into effect, it will boost Canadian exports to Vietnam,” said Kyle Nunas, Canadian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City. Since 2015, Vietnam has been the leading trade partner for Canada in the Asean region. Vietnam was the third largest importer of Canadian agricultural products and seafood to Asean in 2018.
