Indonesia’s Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Affairs has inaugurated an aqua feed plant in Pangandaran, West Java. With an installed capacity of 1 ton/hour, the plant produces floating and sinking feeds for freshwater species. Mimin Abdul Hamid, Feed Director at the ministry said: “Feed cost is the biggest component in aquaculture production cost. The plant was built to offer more affordable feed for farmers in West Java.” The floating feed is priced at USD 0.57/kg while the sinking feed is at USD 0.43/kg, cheaper than commercial feeds in the market.
