by Zahrah Imtiaz – Indian poultry producers expect the cost of feed to increase in the coming weeks as corn continues to sell at high prices. Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association, President, Dr Sushanth Rai told Asian Agribiz that a price hike was imminent as unexpected wet weather had reduced the expected autumn harvest. Reports indicate corn to be already selling at 4.7% above the minimum support price. The government had estimated output at 19.89 mt in 2019-20, nearly 5% higher than last season – but not enough to bring down prices.
