Indian government submits draft guidelines for layer cage size

The Indian Government has issued draft guidelines for ‘regulating breeding and transportation of poultry. They guidelines was submitted to the Delhi High Court. The courts were hearing a case which claimed “that keeping layers in small wired cages amounted to extreme cruelty”. The court rejected a plea by farmers who said their livelihood would be affect by the new system. A new hearing has been set for January, 20, 2020 to enable NGOs to go through draft rules and offer feedback.
