Vietnam likely to miss seafood export target of USD10b

October 17, 2019

Vietnamese seafood export in the first nine months recorded a decrease of 2% compared to the same period in 2018. The General Department of Fisheries (GDF) said this is due to fierce competition in both price and quality from other exporting countries. In addition, the trade conflict between the US and China has had a significant impact on trade policies and the import-export balance between China and US – two largest markets of Vietnamese seafood. Growing technical barriers with stricter regulations have challenged Vietnam’s seafood export target export for 2019.
