Chinese soy imports drop by 13.5% in September

Culling of China’s pig herd by 38.7% in August due to ASF has led to a reduction of 13.5% in China’s soy imports in September. Chinese customs data released this week showed that China bought 8.2 mt of soy in September, compared to 9.48 mt in August. A report from Reuters also blamed the ongoing trade war between the US and China for the dip. High tariffs on US imports have led China to switch to South America to source soy.
