Vietnam works on measures to tame pork price

October 16, 2019

ASF is expected to drive pork shortage in Vietnam in the next three months. The supply-demand gap is about 3-4%, equivalent to 200,000 tons, according to the Department of Planning. The price of live pigs in the country is increasing sharply, driven by the fear of pork shortage and increasing demand from China. “We have to consider importing to meet market demand,” said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ha Cong Tuan. The Ministry of Agriculture previously promoted raising poultry production by 15% and beef and dairy cattle by 5% to compensate for pork shortage. Click here to view our ASF updates.
