Thailand guarantees consumers get quality, sustainable shrimps

Director General of Thailand’s Department of Fisheries, Adisorn Promthep said his directorate general pledges to provide consumers with high quality, safe shrimp products using socially and environmentally responsible methods. Under the Royal Ordinance on Fisheries 2015 and its amendment, shrimp culture is regulated by controlling areas such as aquaculture zoning process, control process for hatchery and nursery, disease monitoring and chemicals usage, and implementation of good labor practices to eliminate exploitation. These will encompass upstream, midstream and downstream operations throughout all stakeholder levels.
