Indian soybean output affected by rain

September 12, 2019

Indian soybean output this year is projected to be 5% lower than last year, due to heavy rains in the main growing regions in Maharashtra and Madya Pradesh. Despite a higher acreage being planted this year, the Soybean Processors Association of India noted that close to 7% of soybean acreage was under stress due to water logging and excessive rain. Soybean crop estimates range between 9-14 mt for 2019-2020, compared to 9.5-13.8 mt last year.
