Punjab poultry affected by Jammu and Kashmir tensions

September 11, 2019

As the downward spiral in market prices continues to plague poultry farmers in India, Punjab poultry farmers complain that the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir have added to their woes. Farmers are experiencing a drop in sales as their supply to theĀ area has been curtailed. India media report that whilst the cost of production stood at USD 0.28, they were only selling at USD 0.042-0.098. The Hindu festive season and increase in corn prices too have added to the drop in sales and rise in production costs.
