EU rep warns Indonesia over retaliation on dairy products

September 11, 2019

An EU representative to Indonesia has urged authorities not to impose duties on European dairy goods in retaliation to the bloc’s duties on palm biodiesel saying it would violate WTO rules. “The WTO does not allow retaliation,” said EU’s Head of Trade for Indonesia, Raffaele Quarto. Earlier Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said he was recommending a 20-25% tariff on EU dairy products in response to the EU’s plan to impose 8-18% countervailing duty on biodiesel from Indonesia.
