Cool cells address temperature concerns of Philippine egg producers

September 11, 2019

With 70-80% of layer farms in the Philippines still using open houses, frequent and abrupt temperature changes in a short span is a big concern for egg producers. At the 2019 Poultry School organized by the Philippine College of Poultry Practitioners, Philippine Egg Board President Irwin Ambal said it is common for temperature to fluctuate by 1-5 degrees abruptly during a four-hour period. He said producers should now consider converting to cool cell houses to improve efficiencies, however investment costs may still be a hindrance.
