Chinese demand lifts Vietnam pig prices

August 14, 2019

The price of live hog in the South of Vietnam has risen USD 0.22/kg to reach USD 1.33/kg. Traders are beginning to source pigs from household farms. Live pigs, carcasses, are being collected for export to China via road. The price hike is attributed to low supply due to ASF. Besides, the news that China has decided to cancel US pork imports has also fueled demand from alternative sources.
