Meat processors warn of higher prices on German pork ban

July 10, 2019

Prices of processed pork meat products like ham and hot dogs are likely to rise after the Philippine government temporarily banned pork imports from Germany, which ships about 80,000 tons annually to the Philippines. The Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc said the ASF in China has severely affected global pork supply and prices. The new ban will further burden the industry, and would jack up prices especially toward the end of the year, when demand for these products go up.
