US firm to acquire shares in Philippine meat processor

May 16, 2019

US meat processor Johnsonville International LLC will acquire a 51% stake in Frabelle Corporation, a Philippine meat processor.  The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) ruled that “the proposed acquisition…will not likely result in substantial lessening of competition” in the local market. Frabelle manufactures hotdogs and sausages, but the PCC said its production volume is “negligible.” Johnsonville, based in Wisconsin state, manufactures and distributes fresh, chilled and frozen meat products. It currently distributes its sausage products in the Philippines under the Johnsonville brand.
