Singapore’s clean meat start-up gains financial support

Shiok Meats received tremendous interest recently as a producer of clean meat – lab produced meat using only cells without the need for a whole animal. They have just raised USD 4.6 million in seed funds. CEO and co-founder Dr Sandhya Sriram told Asian Agribiz: “Raising funds is a work in progress for deep tech firms like ours. Though shrimp meat will remain our focus, we will start exploring crab and lobster meat too. The funds will be used for scale-up and in hiring bioprocess engineers to setup a lab-scale infrastructure in Singapore.”
