Indian Buffalo exports drop in April

April 15, 2019

Indian buffalo exports between February-April have dropped by 9.6% from a year ago, according to figures published by the Indian Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. In the February-April 2017-2018 period, India the world’s largest exporter of buffalo meat exported 1.23 mt (worth USD 3,693 million) but by the 2018-2019 February- April reporting period, numbers had dropped to 1.12 mt. The authorities said the drop is due to lower demand from China- the country’s biggest purchaser of buffalo meat.
