India to double dairy production

India, the largest producer of milk in the world is looking to increase its milk production from 176.4 million tons to 254.5 million tons in the next three years. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in a press release last week, announced that the government has approved 22 projects in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Gujrat, Karnataka and Maharashtra at a total estimated cost of USD 439 million to uplift the dairy industry.
