Bali Pig Farmers Association (Gupbi) in Indonesia has received orders for about 200 live pigs per day, from Jakarta and Surabaya, two big pork markets in the country. I Ketut Hari Suyasa, Gupbi Chairman told local media that farmers under the association are still not able to meet the orders. “We need to make sure that demand from the local markets in Bali are fulfilled first. But the orders from Jakarta and Surabaya are interesting and good news for our farmers. So, we need to consider this appropriately and prepare our farmers in terms of supply continuity and quality,” he said. According to him, Bali supplies 350-500 live pigs per week to markets outside the island.
