Efficient food value chain may ease Philippines’ high inflation rate

October 11, 2018

An efficient value chain is key to sustaining food production in the Philippines, said Edwin Chen, President of the Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines. He was speaking at the opening ceremony of Agrilink 2018, held from October 4-6 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Mr Chen said it is important to have an effective farm-to-fork approach to address the country’s high inflation rate which has caused prices of food items and services to skyrocket. “The whole value chain should not only be about growing hogs but also bringing the product in a safe and efficient way which includes genetics, nutrition, farming, slaughtering, abattoirs and food processing.”
