ProPak Asia 2018, a leading trade show of processing and packaging in Asia saw the addition of a 9th hall, increasing the total exhibition area to more than 58,000sqm, a 10% increase from 2017 with more suppliers (1600 exhibitors from 45 countries) showcasing their latest innovations, machinery and industry solutions. On-going at Bitec in Bangkok, Thailand until June 16, the show expects to record more than 50,000 visitors. Justin Pau, General Manager of UBM Asia (Thailand), said ProPak Asia presents the biggest and widest range of machines, new technology and solutions directly to Asia in Asia.

Provisur brings customers’ business forward
A day before the ProPak Asia 2018 show, Provisur Technologies staged the Provisur Day Seminar in Bangkok, to promote its applications to meat processors in the Asian region. Applications of separation, defrosting, marination, forming and cooking were discussed with demo videos, giving a better understanding to the participants on how the machines work and add value. Paul Heskens, Vice President Asia Pacific told Asian Agribiz that by staging the seminar, Provisur can get closer to its customers. “We want to bring their business forward with our technologies,” he said. “We are going to do seminars like this worldwide on a routine basis.”

Foodmate records good growth in Asia
Netherlands based poultry processing systems supplier Foodmate is optimistic of recording good growth this year in Asia with more projects in the region. Hans Tieleman, Sales Manager revealed that in Thailand, Foodmate recently did a big project with Thai Foods Group. This project includes two breast deboners (6000 breasts per hour, each), one whole leg deboner (6000 legs per hour), two cut-up lines (6000 birds per hour, each) and two evisceration lines (6000 birds per hour, each). “It’s a nice completely automatic project and is the biggest project ever for us in Thailand,” said Mr Tieleman. In the Philippines, Foodmate sold two cutting lines to Jollibee Foods Corporation. “The lines will be installed soon. Once the installation is completed, other producers can view it. So, we expect to have more projects in the country,” he said.

Provisur introduces new spiral cooker
Provisur Technologies introduced its new T-HEX Series Spiral Cooker at the show. T-HEX features a modular, next generation heat treatment that delivers true flexibility. In addition, T-HEX was designed for production of high quality products, saving money and offering better sustainability. Walter van Genderen, Operations Manager at Provisur-TST said: “Unique, open design and your selection of mono or dual drum configurations provide you with maximum flexibility in the arrangement of up to two completely independent cooking environments. Accomplish marinating, coating, grill marking, roasting and other processes as products are transferred between drums.” At the show, this new machine was demonstrated using the augmented reality (AR) that brings elements of the virtual world into the real world.

Ishida enjoys Thai market growth
Ishida (Thailand) Co Ltd is enjoying a good business growth in Thailand in line with the country’s emerging food industry. “So far our business here is good. We grow with our customers. And this year we are hoping to record double-digit business growth,” said Kenji Fukumoto, Managing Director. “In Thailand, we have more projects on automation for food processing and manufacturing,” he added. At the show, the company promoted its automatic case packers for customers who want to automate in the secondary packing zone, and also its X-ray inspection systems for customers who want to enhance quality control and food safety.
