Besides Indonesia’s State Logistics Agency (Bulog), state-owned company Berdikari is another player allowed by the central government to import frozen Indian buffalo meat. This year, Berdikari has the quota to import 20,000 tonnes of the meat in total. Eko Taufik Wibowo, President Director said the first 1000 tonnes will arrive in the first week of Ramadhan (17-23 May). “By end June, we target to import 5000 tonnes. The imports are aimed to stabilise beef prices during Ramadhan and Ied Fitr (May-June),” Mr Wibowo said.
