Sabah to enforce new rules for pig farming

March 14, 2018

The Veterinary Department of Sabah in Malaysia hopes to come up with a win-win situation with local pig farm operators. After signing a lease agreement between the state government and Tongod Farms Sdn Bhd, Dr Nassip Eli, Director of the Veterinary Department announced further discussions would be carried out to ensure local farms complied with the Control of Livestock Activity Rules (Pig) 2008, which would soon be enforced. He added that those who could not comply with the rules would need to move to the Pig Farming Area (PFA) in Tongod if they wanted to continue operating. He added that the translocating cannot be done this year and the Department will allow the farms to determine their time frame.
