Santosa Agrindo (Santori), subsidiary of Indonesia’s agri-food company Japfa Comfeed Indonesia, exported 600kg of its premium wagyu beef valued at USD 20,000 to Myanmar. According to Yohendrik, Export Sales Manager at Santori, the ‘Tokusen Wagyu’ branded beef will cater to demand from Myanmar’s growing tourism industry. “The number of foreign tourists visiting the country is on the rise. So, there is a surge in demand for premium beef from the horeca industry,” he said. Santori is now approaching new buyers in Myanmar to sell another eight tonnes of wagyu beef by March. In different occasion, Safuan Kusno Soewondo, Vice President – Country Head of Beef, Indonesia at Santori, told Asian Agribiz that Santori is also eyeing Malaysia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and the UAE as export market targets for its wagyu beef.
